| Customer Reviews: painted daughter's room in no time August 28, 2009 Lance Cainer (Minneapolis) 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
I unlike some other reviewers love this product. i hate to paint more than anything in the world and this made it so easy. i painted my daughters room (15x15) in no time because with this, i did the trim in a flash. we even had someone come to our house who painted professionally in the past and he wanted to know how i got such "perfect trim work". the color was apricot so there was no hiding mistakes either. i will never paint another room without it. i think the trick maybe is to not overload the roller. good luck!!"
Got Great Results! September 18, 2009 Robert Zhu (Austin TX USA) 15 out of 17 found this review helpful
I ran across the Accubrush on the internet, ordered it, and have been very happy with it. At first, my wife kept saying that it would never work, and was she ever surprised! Now she can't stop raving about how well it works and how much time it saved us. We just finished painting a rec room in our basement - about 25 x 20 - and we were able to paint the whole thing in under an hour, including the little bit of brushing in the corners where the Accubrush doesn't get. I know that some other reviewers have disliked the fact that the Accubrush doesn't get all the way to the corner, but we did not find that to be a big problem. We were still able to fly through the painting job several times faster than if we had to cut in by hand.
We appreciated the fact that the rollers and brushes can all be washed out and used again, which seemed better than some other systems that require you to buy new pads every time you want to paint. We found that using ½ cup fabric softener to one gallon warm water worked great on cleaning out the rollers and brushes (a little trick I learned from Brian Santos, the Wall Wizard).
One trick I do with my rollers and brushes is to put them into a plastic bag overnight and put them into the freezer, to save time washing them out at the end of the day. With the Accubrush, my advice would be to put just the roller into a plastic bag at the end of the day, NOT the entire accubrush. I did that at first, and managed to get paint all over the shield, which I later had to clean off. The little brush is small and easy enough just to wash out, so I don't think that it's necessary to go through the trouble of putting it into a plastic bag.
The instructions say not to let the paint dry out in the bristles (which we accidentally did) and we were still able to get the paint out of the bristles and use the brush again. It seemed to work just fine after that incident, though you may want to have refills on hand.
It worked very well around the walls, doors, and windows. We tried it around the fire alarm and the light switch plates and outlets, but there was not enough of a lip for the Accubrush to ride properly. In the end, we ended up just removing the light switches and taping over the outlets.
We have found that the fastest way to paint a room with the Accubrush is to have one person cutting in the edge and another person coming along and rolling out the wet edge and rolling the rest of the wall. That way you get a perfect rolled texture all the way across the wall, with no ridges or drips. As my wife points out, it is a better texture than with a brush (you get all the brush marks) or with a pad (you get the banding along the wall with a pad).
We bought the XT and MX units, which came together in a special deal. The XT will allow you to edge along the top of the wall without having to get up and down a ladder -- a feature which we thought made it worth the additional money. The MX is a nice unit which works well but is not as fast as the XT. If you have the money, I would recommend upgrading to the more expensive unit. If you're on a budget, the MX will still give you great results and is much more economical.
The only real downside to buying the Accubrush is that now my wife wants to paint the entire house!!

It works! May 26, 2009 C. Chang 13 out of 15 found this review helpful
This Accubrush paint edger sure saved us a ton of time when we were painting our house. We painted blue accent walls in the bedroom and red accent walls in the living room. It saved us from using masking tape, and went around trim very quickly. We won't be painting again without the Accubrush! We found that the Accubrush XT pole mountable version was faster than this one, and worked on our vaulted cathedral ceilings.
got me some compliments! August 28, 2009 Ron Vernazza (Phoenix AZ) 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
I am in the process of painting the interior of my house. I have used this in 6 rooms and it works great and less time consuming than taping. I have received many compliments on my edging job. I even used it when I painted one wall darker than the rest to make my straight lines at the corner of the wall. The only draw back is it doesn't go all the way to the corner because of its design.
